About Management Exams (IPMAT, JIPMAT, NPAT, etc.)

Management has been flourishing as a career and hence, a degree in India. In cue with this trend, India’s top management institutions (IIMs) have launched a management degree program that can be pursued right after school. Here’s a list of options the students have:

  • 5-Year Course: The IPM (Integrated Program in Management) offered by IIM Indore, Rohtak, Bodh Gaya, Ranchi, and Jammu allows interested candidates to complete their BBA and MBA Courses together. The list of IIMs in this category is expected to grow rapidly.
  • 3-Year Course: Courses like the BBA, BMS, and BBM fall under this category and are offered by several colleges across the country with NMIMS, Symbiosis, and Christ University being some of the most prominent colleges.

All about IPMAT 2026 (IIM Indore)

IPMAT 2024 will be conducted by IIM Indore for admission in the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). It is conducted for students who have graduated from 12th/Higher Secondary or equivalent and wish to pursue a career in Management. The IPM program at IIM Indore is a cross-disciplinary management program that has a blended course of management studies from undergraduate to Postgraduate. It consists of 15 terms which will be covered over 5 years with internship projects at the end of every academic year. The program can be categorized into two segments. The first segment focuses on foundation courses whereas the second segment focuses on management courses. The first 3 years of the course represent the BBA Course while the final 2 years represent the MBA Course for the students. Students will be awarded a B.A (Foundation in Management) + MBA degree on successfully completing the entire 5-year program.

Exam Pattern

The IPMAT Indore paper is unique because it includes a “Short Answer” section with no options.

Accuracy is vital in IPMAT due to the negative marking system. The scoring is categorized as follows:

    • Correct Answer: Candidates will be awarded +4 marks for every correct response.

    • Negative Marking: There is a penalty of -1 mark for every incorrect answer in the QA (MCQ) and VA (MCQ) sections.

    • No Negative Marking: The Quantitative Ability (Short Answer) section does not carry any negative marking. For these questions, candidates must type the numerical answer using the on-screen keyboard.

    • Unattempted Questions: Zero marks will be awarded/deducted for questions left blank.

  • Quantitative Ability: 45+ Marks

  • Verbal Ability: 140+ Marks

  • Overall Target: 210 – 230+ Marks

IPMAT Indore 2026 Selection Procedure

Stage 1: The Aptitude Test (IPMAT)

All eligible candidates must appear for the computer-based test. To move to the next stage, a candidate must score more than zero in all three sections and clear the sectional cut-offs.

Stage 2: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI)

Candidates who clear the sectional cut-offs are ranked based on their Aptitude Test Score (ATS).

Stage 3: Personal Interview (PI)

A “sufficient number” of candidates (typically around 800–900 across all categories) are called for the interview. The interview panel evaluates:

  • Academic consistency and knowledge.

All about IPMAT 2026 (IIM Rohtak)

The IPMAT Rohtak 2026 will be conducted by IIM Rohtak to admit students to the 5-year Management program. IPM is designed for students who have graduated from 12th/Higher Secondary or equivalent. The cross-disciplinary management program divided into two segments that blend management studies at the UG and PG levels (BBA+MBA). The first segment focuses on foundation courses whereas, the second segment focuses on management courses which follow the same curriculum as the PGP batch at IIM Rohtak. If one wishes to opt out after the first three years, one will be awarded the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree.

Looking at the popularity of the degree, IIM Rohtak has increased the seats from 60 to 120 for the academic year 2025. To get into IPM Rohtak, one must take the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) Rohtak, which is the only score accepted at the time of admission.

IPMAT Rohtak 2026: Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

The IPMAT Rohtak exam is a speed-based test consisting of 120 questions to be solved in 120 minutes. Unlike IPMAT Indore, the Rohtak paper is purely objective.

I. Test Structure

The exam is divided into three equal sections. Since there is no sectional time limit, candidates have the flexibility to switch between sections and manage their total 2-hour window as they see fit.

SectionNumber of QuestionsRecommended TimeTotal Marks
Quantitative Ability4040 Minutes160
Logical Reasoning4040 Minutes160
Verbal Ability4040 Minutes160
Total120120 Minutes480

II. Marking Scheme

The scoring system is uniform across all three sections:

  • Correct Answer: +4 Marks

  • Incorrect Answer: -1 Mark (Negative marking applies to all sections)

  • Unattempted Question: 0 Marks

III. Key Highlights of IPMAT Rohtak 2026

  • Question Type: All 120 questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There are no Short Answer (SA) or TITA questions in this exam.

  • Sectional Flexibility: You can attempt the sections in any order. This allows you to finish your strongest section quickly and save more time for tougher sections like Logical Reasoning or Quant.

  • No Sectional Cut-offs: Unlike IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak typically considers the Total Score for shortlisting candidates for the Personal Interview, rather than requiring a minimum score in each section.

  • Calculation: No on-screen calculator is provided for the Rohtak exam, so mental math speed is critical.

IPMAT Rohtak 2026: Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) at IIM Rohtak for the 2026-31 batch, candidates must satisfy the following three conditions:

1. Minimum Percentage Requirement

Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate percentage in both Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) or equivalent examinations:

  • General, NC-OBC, and EWS Category: Minimum 60% aggregate.

  • SC, ST, and PwD (DAP) Category: Minimum 55% aggregate.

Important Note on Calculation: The percentage is calculated based on the aggregate marks of the best five subjects appearing on the mark sheet, regardless of the board’s regulation.

2. Age Criteria (Strict)

  • All Categories: Candidates must be a maximum of 20 years of age as of June 30, 2026.

  • This means the candidate must have been born on or after July 1, 2006.

  • Note: Unlike many other exams, IIM Rohtak traditionally does not offer age relaxation for reserved categories in its eligibility policy.

3. Qualifying Year & Status

  • Year of Passing: Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2024 or 2025 are eligible.

  • Appearing Candidates: Students appearing for their Class 12 examinations in 2026 are also eligible to apply provisionally.

  • Admission Condition: Provisionally admitted students must meet the minimum percentage criteria mentioned above once their results are declared. They must produce their mark sheets and school leaving certificates at the time of registration (typically by June 2026).

Eligibility Summary Table

Category Min. Marks (10th & 12th) Age Limit (Born on or after)
General / EWS / NC-OBC 60% July 1, 2006
SC / ST / PwD (DAP) 55% July 1, 2006

IPM Rohtak 2026 Selection Stages

Stage 1: Online Registration & Aptitude Test (IPMAT)

Everything begins with the entrance exam. For the 2026 session, the registration period generally runs from February to April, with the exam scheduled for May 10, 2026.

  • Candidates must score a minimum qualifying mark in each section (Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability) to be considered for shortlisting.

Stage 2: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI)

Based on the performance in the IPMAT 2026 exam, IIM Rohtak shortlists a pool of candidates for the interview round.

  • The shortlist is typically announced in the last week of May.

  • Candidates are selected based on their total entrance score and meeting basic eligibility criteria.

Stage 3: Online Personal Interview (PI)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Personal Interview, which is usually conducted online in the first or second week of June.

  • Focus Areas: The panel evaluates your communication skills, general awareness, academic interest, and overall personality.

  • Selection Criteria: Unlike the entrance test which tests “what you know,” the PI tests “how you think.”

Stage 4: Final Selection & Merit List

The final merit list is generated in July 2026. IIM Rohtak uses a specific weighted formula called the Composite Score to rank candidates for final admission offers.

Final Merit List Weightage (2026 Batch)

Component Weightage
Aptitude Test Score (IPMAT 2026) 55%
Personal Interview (PI) 15%
Class 10th Aggregate Marks 10%
Class 12th Aggregate Marks 20%
Total 100%
